It adds three things to Google Drive: tags you put on any file, a search that combines tags to find the exact file, and collections you can share as a link. Your files stay right where they are.

Questions, answered

Where are my tags stored?

In Arkyvst's own database, alongside each file's name and Drive link. Files never leave Drive, and you can export your tags to CSV any time.

Can't Google Drive already do this?

Drive can't search what's inside a photo or a clip, and Drive labels need a paid Workspace plan and an admin. Arkyvst works on any Drive, no admin needed.

What's a tag library?

A library is a set of tags for a certain kind of file, so photo tags only show on photos and document tags only on documents.

How do collections and sharing work?

A collection is a set of files with a share link on arkyvst.com. Recipients see a gallery page and need no Google account. Delete the collection and the link stops working.

Does it work inside Google Docs, Sheets and Slides?

Yes. A document's tags appear in its menu bar, and you can add or change them there.

I have thousands of untagged files. Where do I start?

Point the Untagged Inbox at the folders that matter and work through it in batches. Tag similar files together and skip the rest.

Does Arkyvst read the contents of my files?

No. It stores file names and tags, never file contents. See what Arkyvst can see and the privacy policy.

Can my teammates see my tags?

On Team, yes. Free and Individual are single-user plans.

Does it work on Shared Drives and with multiple Google accounts?

Yes to both. Shared Drives work like anything else, and Arkyvst follows whichever account the Drive tab is showing.

How does billing work?

Monthly or yearly, through Paddle, our payment provider. Yearly plans cost ten months — two months free. Cancel any time, with a full refund within 14 days of your first purchase.

Is it Chrome only? Is there a desktop app?

It's a Chrome extension, so it works wherever Chrome does. Collection share pages open in any browser. No desktop or mobile app.
